ZyDoc Joins Incubator Program at Stony Brook

ZyDoc, a New York-based medical informatics company, has been accepted into the Stony Brook Incubator Program at Stony Brook University. The incubator program, which helps technologically innovative companies grow by providing them with a variety of support resources and services, has four locations totaling more than 100,000 square feet. The ZyDoc research and development (R&D) team has moved into the New York State Center of Excellence in Wireless and Information Technology (CEWIT).

“This is a wonderful opportunity to advance ZyDoc’s research and development in cloud-based, [artificial intelligence]-driven medical knowledge management,” says James M. Maisel, MD, ZyDoc chairman. “ZyDoc has multiple disruptive enabling technologies in development now. We have a small but immensely talented and dedicated in-house team of developers, programmers, and project managers. Through the incubator program, we will gain invaluable support in technology development as well as help in focusing our commercialization strategies.”

PatientKeeper Launches Automated Solution for Reconciling Physician Charges and Clinical Notes
PatientKeeper Charge-Note Reconciliation is an automated tool that helps health care providers ensure that all reimbursable physician services are charged and that all charges are documented. Benefits to provider organizations include increased revenue from avoiding missed charges, streamlined administrative processes for billers and coders, and a mechanism to identify potentially missing documentation that could put an organization at risk during a RAC audit. PatientKeeper’s new charge-note reconciliation tool is available immediately in the latest release of PatientKeeper Charge Capture. PatientKeeper Charge-Note Reconciliation allows organizations to extract clinical notes from many different systems, link the authors of clinical notes to users in PatientKeeper to provide insight into who saw a specific patient, reconcile charges and notes at the department level or the physician level, and apply automated logic to optimize the charge capture process, ensuring that bills include all professional services provided. NoteSwift Unveils Real-Time EHR Virtual Assistant and Transcriptionist
NoteSwift’s Samantha is a virtual assistant that acts as an intelligent medical transcriptionist or scribe for health care providers. Samantha’s patent-pending Parsing and Dynamic Matching technology takes the physician’s natural language input of a patient encounter and automatically identifies the discrete data elements vs the narrative text, assigns the required coding, and puts it all into the EHR exactly where it needs to be, just as though the provider had manually entered it. Samantha integrates seamlessly with the EHR (currently available for Allscripts Professional, with more EHRs launching later this year) and operates from a single screen, thereby reducing the burden on the physician of having to navigate the many EHR menu screens, check boxes, and coding requirements. As a result, physicians can document patient notes in at least half the time. Samantha matches dictated terms with the proper equivalent in the EHR, and detects potential conflicts or ambiguous terms, automatically prompting the user to review and correct any potential conflicts, ensuring maximum accuracy. Samantha also learns from the provider and will improve upon the tasks that the physician most commonly performs over time—just like a transcriptionist, but in real time. Samantha is available with or without built-in speech recognition, and supports most popular medical speech recognition products, including Nuance Dragon Medical One, Dragon Medical Practice Edition, and Dragon Medical Network Edition, as well as M*Modal Fluency Direct and nVoq SayIt. Samantha can also be used without dictation and works with the EHR in local, cloud-, or on premise-hosted-RDP or Citrix environments. Prices range from $49 to $99 per month, per provider.
