The Massachusetts Health Information Management Association (MaHIMA) presented four members with awards recognizing their individual achievement and contribution to the association. The awards were presented during the MaHIMA winter meeting on January 25, 2013.
The MaHIMA Outstanding New Professional Award recognizes the best of new talent in HIM. The winner of this award demonstrates significant potential for future leadership, innovation, creativity, and administrative capacity. The 2013 MaHIMA Outstanding New Professional Award was given to two members: Sherisse Monteiro of Health Information Services at Brigham & Women’s Hospital, and Jackie Judd, a coder at Boston Children’s Hospital.
The MaHIMA Professional Achievement Award honors a MaHIMA member for numerous and long-term contributions to the HIM profession. The 2013 MaHIMA Professional Achievement Award was given to Margaret Donais, lead coder and educator at Baystate Medical Center and instructor at Holyoke Community College.
The MaHIMA Distinguished Member Award, MaHIMA’s highest honor, recognizes a member for their exceptional history of contribution to MaHIMA through dedicated volunteer service and association leadership. The 2013 MaHIMA Distinguished Member Award was given to Jackie Raymond, director of health information services & privacy at Brigham and Women’s Hospital.
