The solution will connect medical information between telehealth and electronic health record systems, ensuring providers have more complete medical histories for patients
Verato, a provider of next-generation identity resolution services, recently announced the launch of Telehealth Identity Bridge, a collaborative solution that supports health care providers who are rapidly adopting on-demand telehealth capabilities in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. The solution will give hospital clinicians access to information from recent telehealth visits and alleviates the patient record management burden often on HIM teams.
“Inadequate patient identity matching between telehealth and the electronic health record (EHR) can be detrimental, leaving many telehealth and in-patient clinicians without access to the full clinical histories,” says Mark LaRow, CEO of Verato. “This makes it incredibly difficult to triage cases and make timely and informed decisions. Given the COVID-19 pandemic and the immense surge in telehealth use, this need is evermore critical to ensure the highest quality of care is provided across all settings.”
Telehealth Identity Bridge gives hospital clinicians access to information from recent telehealth visits. If a patient presents in the emergency department, clinicians will have all of the information obtained during telehealth visits—such as whether the patient had a telehealth visit or if the patient has recently experienced flulike symptoms.
Verato can rapidly deploy this Telehealth Identity Bridge. Once implemented, the HITRUST-certified cloud-based solution links the patient’s EHR chart and telehealth through a single medical record number when new telehealth accounts are created.
The service will be offered to all health care delivery organizations, health plans, and public health agencies at no cost through 2020. There will be no obligation during or after this period.
LaRow adds, “The Telehealth Identity Bridge will support health systems and help providers get ahead of any potential patient matching problems. Verato wants to ensure every system can do that without any second thought. We have a solution that works today and plan to sweep aside discussions of economics and business terms. With better information, clinicians will make more informed decisions faster.”
