The American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC) announced the appointment of Deborah Grider as president, effective July 1. Grider brings more than 30 years of healthcare experience to this position, focusing specifically in the areas of compliance, medical coding, and reimbursement. She has a proven track record in growing business units and initiatives within the company. She succeeds Reed Pew who was recently appointed chairman of the board of directors for Eli Research's healthcare group, which includes the AAPC, Inhealthcare, ASHIM, and Practice Builders.
Grider joined AAPC one year ago as vice president of strategic development where she has been responsible for strategic initiatives and major projects, including the full development of the AAPC's training and curriculum for the new ICD-10-CM medical coding system among other projects.
Prior to joining the AAPC, Grider was president of Deborah Grider & Associates, LLC, an Indiana-based physician-consulting firm.
