Iatric Systems Inc, a comprehensive HIT integration company, recently announced that it has acquired the business assets of Accent on Integration, Inc (AOI), a Dallas-based health care systems and patient-care device integration firm known for its Accelero Connect integration platform and broad portfolio of professional services and consulting. Financial terms were not disclosed.
The transaction supports Iatric Systems’ business model of providing comprehensive IT integration services to health care providers so that they are ready for the changing demands of health care now and in the future.
“Patient safety, meaningful use, health information exchange (HIE), and other relevant industry challenges have created an immense and immediate demand for integration, and acquiring AOI further strengthens Iatric Systems’ ability to deliver the integration services that providers need,” says Joel Berman, founder and CEO of Iatric Systems. “Iatric Systems is committed to meeting the integration and data-sharing needs in health care today, whether that is patient-care device integration, enterprise system integration, or connecting hospitals with HIEs and the broader connected health care communities that are still developing.”
As part of the acquisition, Iatric Systems will leverage AOI’s manufacturer- and modality-neutral Accelero Connect integration platform and AOI’s portfolio of consulting and professional services. Combining the companies will expand the data-sharing capabilities that Iatric Systems can deliver to providers.
Iatric Systems will retain AOI personnel, including the company’s cofounders, President and CEO Marc C. Andiel and Vice President and Chief Technology Officer Jeff McGeath, each of whom has more than 15 years of HIT experience. As part of Iatric Systems, Andiel becomes senior vice president of professional services, overseeing Iatric Systems’ professional services division, and McGeath becomes vice president of patient-care device integration, overseeing Accelero Connect and all engagements related to patient-care devices.
“Marc and Jeff have built an outstanding business with unique integration capabilities that are relevant to the whole healthcare industry. AOI has solved complex challenges for a variety of health care clients, including providers and HIEs, and that track record was important to us,” says Iatric Systems President Frank Fortner. “Combining Iatric Systems and AOI creates a great alignment of cultures, with both companies having a passion for integration and customer service—it’s a great fit moving forward.”
“AOI was founded on the simple premise that we could help create better, safer care environments by eliminating health care data silos. Now, as part of Iatric Systems, we will have the size and scale to significantly expand our reach into the health care community,” says Andiel. “Our focus has always been on applying our integration skills to improve the lives of patients and caregivers alike. Iatric Systems has that same commitment, and our firms share the belief that integration is all about delivering useful information to the end-user when they need it, where they need it, and how they need it.”
