Former ONC Leader Joins AHIMA Board as Advisor

The AHIMA board of directors welcomed David S. Muntz, CHCIO, FCHIME, LCHIIME, FHIMSS, as its first advisor to the board. Muntz began this volunteer, nonvoting position at the July 10 board meeting.

Muntz, the senior vice president and CIO of GetWellNetwork, served as the first principal deputy national coordinator and chief of staff at the Office of the National Coordinator for Health
Information Technology (ONC) from 2012 through 2013.

While at ONC, Muntz established the Office of Consumer e-Health and the Office of Chief
Medical Officer. He was a major supporter of activities related to rural America and behavioral
health. Muntz has extensive experience writing and implementing EHRs.

Muntz will serve a one-year nonvoting term with the option for board reappointment two
additional times. The board has the option of adding an additional advisor by majority vote.
