Susan L. Turney, MD, MS, FACP, FACMPE, president and CEO of the Medical Group Management Association (MGMA) has announced her resignation, effective September 1. Turney has accepted a position as CEO of the newly-formed Marshfield Clinic Health System, in Marshfield, Wisconsin.
Turney has served as MGMA president and CEO since October 2011. In that time, Turney led many successful initiatives including a rebrand project, strengthened relations with 50 state MGMA chapters, and oversaw the creation and implementation of a new executive partnership program, as well as enhancements to the association’s 88-year-old annual conference. She’s also expanded and updated MGMA Data Solutions efforts, for which the association is most widely known.
“MGMA’s future is very bright. This is a decision I considered carefully and feel confident that there is tremendous momentum for the initiatives I’ve championed and I have no doubt the organization will not skip a beat,” says Turney. “I’m so proud of the team that’s in place. MGMA is a professional development organization at its core, with a laser focus on creating experiences and resources that help members every day. I will continue to be very engaged with the association as a member and will rely on MGMA resources and insights to help position Marshfield Clinic Health System for success.”
MGMA will begin recruiting for Turney’s replacement immediately. In the interim, MGMA leaders will assume increased responsibility until the new CEO is selected.
