Charter Oak State College's Online HIM Major Receives CAHIIM Accreditation

Charter Oak State College, Connecticut's public online college, proudly announces that the HIM Bachelor's degree program has been accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Health Informatics and Information Management Education (CAHIIM), the governing academic authority in the HIM field. The Bureau of Labor Statistics has cited HIM as one of the 20 fastest growing occupations in the United States with a projected job growth rate of 23% from 2012 to 2022. Graduating from a CAHIIM accredited HIM program allows students to take the Registered Health Information Administration (RHIA) exam, an important credential in the field.

Developed by experts in this fast-growing field, the program equips students with the health care knowledge and skills needed to manage patient data and improve patient care in today's health care environments. 

Successful candidates for the Bachelor of Science degree in HIM should be familiar with working in a health care or health care-related environment, and have an aptitude for biological sciences and IT. Students who already possess a health care credential (RHIT, CPC, CCS, RN, etc) may be able to receive credits for it, reducing the number of required courses.
